Frequently updating your crewshell names helps to protect your regatta security, and keeps other teams wondering about your program's fleet, never a bad thing. Our recommendation is to change shell names weekly; in this way, your competition will think you are struggling with equipment choices while simultaneously wondering about the size of your endowment.
Choose a crewshell name that is easily remembered, but not one that another crew would guess. Crewshell names should include the name of a character, or even a symbol so long as it is a mustache (strokes, coxswains, and boatmen are definitely characters). You may not use a crewshell name that you have used any time during the last twelve regattas, and it must not include any part of your bow number. Never write your crewshell name down.
